Exercise & Fitness Editorial Review
** Ballet Class: Intermediate & Advanced** The "Ballet Class: Intermediate & Advanced" DVD featuring David Howard has garnered a mix of nostalgia and appreciation from its viewers, making it a noteworthy choice for ballet enthusiasts looking to supplement their training at home. Despite its 80s production style—complete with vintage music and clothing—it effectively offers a comprehensive ballet routine that caters to intermediate and advanced dancers. The format includes thorough barre and center exercises that encompass essential ballet techniques such as pliés, tendues, and pirouettes, which many users praised for their clarity and instructive quality. Instructor David Howard’s approach is seen as beneficial though admittedly quick-paced, requiring viewers to have a foundational understanding of ballet terminology and techniques. His ability to convey key concepts focused on improving technique, such as posture and footwork, keeps participants engaged and mindful throughout the class. Notably, the DVD is structured to alternate between right and left sides, making it a well-rounded workout that helps prevent imbalance in practice. However, some users expressed disappointment over the filming perspectives, particularly in the center work, as they found it less useful without a view from behind the instructor—a standard in traditional ballet classes. Nevertheless, many users found value in the workout it provides, with some remarking on its effectiveness for maintaining technique during breaks from studio training. Overall, this DVD is highly recommended for those with prior ballet experience, as it serves as a solid resource for enhancing skills while providing an enjoyable and challenging workout. **
